I am building some test enclosures for our project
I read that the CDK board is best with the antenna up and down… got it…(I think… is that the board too?)
but which way is the expectation for component/not side…
component towards receivers? (iphone)

for components it does not care. Just try to avoid having any components/metal objects below antenna.
Regarding the antenna) Within any operational angle between antenna and tag should not be any obstacles/components. So when the node is below the phone the the antenna should face upwards and if the node is above the phone then the antenna should facing downwards.
