Rfsa3713, qpc6713

What is the minimum input power level required for the RFSA3713, QPC6713 RF attenuator to achieve accurate attenuation at its maximum attenuation setting? For example, if I apply -100 dBm input power, will the output show a signal attenuated to -131 dBm accurately? If not, where can I find the minimum input level specifications for this IC?

Hello. It will depend on the noise present (will the noise be higher than the -100 dBm signal?). The attenuator should always attenuate signal at its attenuation setting unless the RF input exceeds the absolute max. RF input rating.

Hi,
Thank you for answer.
I think the external noise level outside the IC is less than -100 dBm. But there is one point I am not sure about. Does the internal noise of the IC and the input-output coupler level prevent attenuation at very low levels?

I don’t believe it would, but I have never dealt with this situation. Best thing to do would be to sample an eval board (EVB) and run special tests in your operating environment.
