Question on Updated UWB Regulation in Europe (-41.3 dBm to -31.3 dBm)

Hi,
As far as I know, the regulation for UWB in Europe was updated, increasing the maximum mean power spectral density from -41.3 dBm to -31.3 dBm. Is it possible to certify my product under this updated version?

If anyone has already certified their product under this version, please let me know.

Thanks.

Hi @EddieKu ,

We haven’t certified any module for the new regulation yet, but for the DW3000/QM33 product, you would need an external amplifier (QM14070) to reach -31.3 dBm/MHz. Standalone DW3000/QM33 can’t reach those power levels.

Kind regards,
Emre

Hi @EddieKu,

As a follow-up, could you please point me to where you found the new regulation? The only one I’ve been able to locate is 2024/1467, which still shows the –41.3 dBm limit.

Best regards,
Marco

@EddieKu, I would also recommend taking a look at our new QM35825
which has an integrated PA that can take advantage of this new regulation.

Please see section 4.2 here. This regulation is only applicable for indoor devices: Implementing decision - 2024/1467 - EN - EUR-Lex

@Emre_Ozbas_Qorvo Thanks for your reply.

I understand you don’t have experience with that, but I just wonder if it is officially possible to certify under the new regulation (2024/1467).

I asked our certification lab in Korea, but they have no idea about the updated regulation.

What can I do?

Thanks.
