QPA2237 pad size and shorting

We are using QPA2237 in our application. Unfortunately it shows a short at QPA2237. Between the 32V power an QPA2237. One possible reason could be pad size.

The middle pads size is about 2.6*2.6MM, but for the parts QPA2237, we checked its datasheet and it can just see the pads size of parts but do not find the suggested pads size on PCB. The data sheet says 2.7.

Could this be the problem? Also , do you have any practical thoughts about pads and thermal size. We do have bias etc.

Thanks

Hi,
Note that as the QPA2237 is a depletion mode device then if there is no negative gate bias present the drain will be a very low impedance to ground (source) as the FET channels will be open. Is this what you are seeing as a short on the 32V line?
I would suggest checking the evaluation board layout to see how the PCB footprint has been done and for PCB pad sizes. It’s on the Qorvo web-site at link below.

Yes, that could be it as well. The PCB maker flagged the Pad as a possible short.

Thank you.
