QM33 / DW3xxx UWB libraries for nRF54L15 (Cortex-M33) on Zephyr / NCS

Hello Qorvo team,

We’re building a BLE + UWB accessory that ranges with iPhone (Apple Nearby Interaction accessory) and Android (FiRa controlee), targeting mass production.

Setup:

  • UWB IC: QM33120
  • Dev kit: QM33120WDK1 – DW3_QM33_SDK v1.1.1 works on nRF52840 / FreeRTOS; Apple NI session tested with iPhone
  • Production MCU: Nordic nRF54L15 (Cortex-M33, hard-float)
  • Production SDK: Zephyr / nRF Connect SDK v3.3.0

Issue:
The UWB stack, FiRa and Apple NI accessory libraries are only available as prebuilt binaries for nRF5 SDK / FreeRTOS on Cortex-M4. We need them for Cortex-M33 on Zephyr / NCS.

Questions:

  1. Can you provide these libraries built for Cortex-M33 (ARMv8-M, hard-float) for Zephyr / NCS 3.3.0?
  2. Is a Zephyr / NCS port for nRF54L15 available or planned? If so, when?
  3. Which SDK parts are source and which are binary only?
  4. Which API gives the distance on the accessory side in NI and FiRa sessions?

This is on our critical path Please provide support ASAP.

4 ni only gives distance until convergence

Fira uci will give distance

I also have a firmware update for android that looks similar to iOS Allows alternating ranging

And a sample android app that uses it

Hello @parth_sanepara,

  1. While our SDK (1.1.1) uses the nRF52840 as a reference, we also include libraries for M33. These can be used with any OS.
  2. This is not currently planned.
  3. SDK exposes the driver implementation in source and the FiRa MAC in binary.
  4. This is normally delivered as a notification once you have initialized and started the ranging session.
