We’re evaluating the DWM3001 with iOS Nearby Interaction for a large deployment and need clarity on one key point:
Can one DWM3001 accessory (e.g., Nordic host) range with multiple iPhones in foreground mode?
Context:
- iOS distinguishes between foreground (no BLE pairing needed after discovery) and background (BLE pairing required) modes.
- We’ve tested Qorvo’s QNI sample successfully for 1:1 ranging in both modes.
- BLE has a 1:1 limitation, but in foreground mode, UWB takes over after discovery without persistent BLE connections.
Question:
- Is many-to-one (1 accessory → multiple iPhones) supported in foreground mode?
- Some sources suggest UWB inherently allows this (with bandwidth limits); others claim 1:1 only.
- Does the current SDK/firmware support this, or can it be modified to enable it?
- Are there any samples or documentation for this use case?
Any clarity or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
