Bias Current for TQP3M9019

Hello,

I’m wondering how to adjust the bias current for the TQP3M9019. The datasheet advertises 5V, 85mA current, even though typical operation is at 5V, 125 mA. I would like to see options for adjusting the current between 85 mA and 125 mA, and how that affects gain, noise figure, P1dB, and IP3.

Thanks,
Bill

It looks like there is a mistake on page 1 of the datasheet, the TQP3M9019 typical current should be 125mA at 5V. I’ll request that this is corrected.
If you need a similar device with lower current then you can look at the TQP3M9018. The TQP3M9018 has 85mA typical bias current, and the P1dB and IP3 are reduced slightly compared with the TQP3M9019.

Thanks for the reply. The TQP3M9018 doesn’t support the gain that I need. Is there a way to reduce the current on the TQP3M9019?

The TQP3M9019 could be run at lower supply voltage, which would also lower the current.
You can also use a resistor to ground on the input pin to pull the bias voltage on that pin and reduce the current. Or apply an external bias voltage to the input pin, say by a resistive divider across the supply.
I don’t have any supporting test data for either approach on the TQP3M9019, but it has been tried on similar devices.
