About the filters

Hi,

In the user manuals of DW3120 and QM33120, the compatibility description with DW1000 mentions “built-in balun and filter”. However, in the “Application Circuit Diagram” of both datasheets, I saw that qm33120 is externally connected to LFB217G35CFHE826, but DW3120 does not have this filter. Does DW3120 not require an external LFB217G35CFHE826 filter?
Thank you!

Hi usb,

For the DW3120, the datasheet and reference designs typically do not show an external LFB217G35CFHE826 filter. This is because the DW3120 integrates both a balun and a filter internally, specifically designed to be compatible with the DW1000’s RF interface. Therefore, under normal circumstances and for standard UWB applications, you do not need to add the external LFB217G35CFHE826 filter to the DW3120 reference circuit.

The QM33120, despite having a built-in balun and filter, may show the external filter in its application circuit for additional RF performance or regulatory reasons, or to meet specific customer requirements. Always follow the latest reference designs and consult the product’s application notes for your exact use case.

Hi,AymanBarakat

Can you provide the attenuation characteristic parameters of the passband and stopband of the on-chip filter?

Thank you!
