I keep repetitively opening the netlist to view. I have not found a shortcut to launch the netlist, but I would like to voice my desire here to add that feature.
Hi, Gabe.
I suspect that I’m not understanding: You open the netlist from the GUI to view it in a text window and want a short-cut to run the netlist from that text view window instead of clicking the Run button in the GUI?

I’m just talking about a shortcut that will open up the netlist window. Instead of going to view —> netlist through the main GUI window. It’s pretty tedious and most of the other functions in that view tab has key bindings already, so I’m wondering why the most used one (at least for me anyway) doesn’t have the keybinding.
Yeah, the GUI is quite minimalist. I’ve toyed with the idea of hooking the message loop to add some features. But what I really want goes beyond simple hot-key mapping…
Anyway, posting here doesn’t usually reach the developer. You can send him your suggestion at the e-mail address in the Help | About QSpice dialog.
@gabemorris12 I have a simple question: why don’t you just keep the netlist window open? It updates when you change your schematic.
I don’t know if its a bug, and I can’t really pin point when exactly it happens, but when I press the esc key, that window closes. It will close if the focus is on the netlist window with the esc press, but sometimes the netlist window will close when ever my focus is on an object in the main GUI window and I press esc to release my selection. Couldn’t tell if it was supposed to behave this way or nor, but I just keep finding myself clicking view —> netlist over and over again.
I also observed this after I had raised the question, and I have submitted this observation for Mike to review. This happens for wire placement, but not component placement, but definitely prevent you from keep opening the netlist.
I am not opposing the shortcut request, but I certain change might be benefit to you too.
@gabemorris12 Mike just made a change. Update QSpice!
I’ve updated and looks like I can’t get it to close with pressing esc from the main GUI window. There is another issue that I will address in another topic soon.
Also, I still think it would be nice to have the shortcut to open the netlist because that’s still the first thing I do when opening a schematic.
I kept looking for a shortcut for this too. In the end I just added the netlist view command to a custom toolbar since it’s much faster than digging through menus every time.
How do you add a custom toolbar?
I guess you contact Mike and a shortcut key is assigned to view netlist finally.
05/28/2026 “F9” is now a shortcut for opening a view of the netlist of a schematic.
This is true. And the fact that I emailed him and received an answer and the update in the same day is why I am going to be locked in on QSPICE. FYI, I started learning spice software two weeks ago. I started with LTspice, but then realized I couldn’t do complex control loops. C++ blocks are an insane feature that make this software miles better.
That is a smart choice, and welcome to QSpice. QSpice was launched in 2023 and is currently stable, many great feature and with a great community. If you are new to SPICE, I definitely recommend QSpice.
LTspice and QSpice with the same author (Mike Engelhardt), and this statement is a quote from his interview. : The journey in developing QSPICE was driven by a desire to correct past imperfections and create a superior simulation program.

A dedicated shortcut would definitely speed things up when you’re jumping back and forth between schematic checks and simulation. Until then, having the netlist window docked or pinned can make the workflow a bit smoother.
F9 already added as a shortcut for View Netlist.
